First of 4 COLAB Shirt Designs
by serena
I’ve designed a few shirts to promote COLAB, the new design laboratory over at Syracuse University. The shirts are meant to attract attention, not necessary carry the most orthodox function of “here’s the logo and I’m wearing it to represent.” The designs, in turn, are only peripherally relevant to the organization, their relationships with it more perplexing than obvious.

On organic heather blend

In Detail
We tested this one out first because I wanted to do a discharge on a blend – which, since discharge is a bleaching ink, can be unpredictable (compared to 100% cotton fabrics). We tested it on several different fabrications, in case the heather blend did not work. Sure, the organic 100% cottons came out crisp, white, and contrasty, but the blend has a vintage, semi-worn out quality that hints this new shirt 30 years of history and street life. How cool is that?
