About
Scribbepop.com was first established in 2005 as a artist site/blog. I initially made it to chronicle my creative process. When SerenaKuo.com came to be, video documentations, writing, and excerpts of work migrated over to the new website to be displayed in a more static fashion. Scribblepop was sort of left in the dark corner and untouched since then.
A while later, a creative thirst came over me (as it frequently does) and I felt a need to re-establish my blog presence – perhaps in a bigger way. I immediately thought about the countless popular blog sites (and vlog sites) in existence: half of them snarky, the other half involved and dedicated to particular disciplines and audiences. I don’t have a problem with sass and judgment of people that signed up to receive them in the limelights, and I definitely love all the design, technology and special interest blogs I have fed to my GoogleReader. My main concern is with setting a criteria for the blog. I wanted to blog about things that I care about. But I, like most people with a short attention span, nerdy interests, and diverse friend circles, not only constantly care about new things, but have very particular and peculiar niche passions.
So this all rationalizes the choice of a minimalist design of the new Scribblepop.com. I wanted to start it as a loose container, to not make up rules for what goes on here. All I want is to be as honest and as responsible (within the liberating context of a web-forum) as possible. The rest is up to change.
It is my hope that this will grow into something with a unique sense of individuality. Perhaps the aesthetics will change with this growth. I most definitely want to involve more people in the future, after this toddler of a redesign becomes something more autonomous.
